President Joyce Si Tou, and vice president Alexis Wong attended the World Physiotherapy Asia Western Pacific Region Congress 2024 and general meeting 25-28th Sep in Bali, Indonesia. Executive Board of World Physiotherapy, as well as delegates and members of MOs, over 500 physiotherapists participated the event.

In the general meeting, Joyce shared works of MPTA in promoting physiotherapy profession in Macau. Delegates from MOs shared and discussed the opportunities and challenges encountered in enhancing the profession. Enthusiastic agreement reached on increasing collaboration and communication on professional development.

The theme of the congress is “Collaboration and Transformation Towards a Sustainable Physiotherapy Practice”, with the message to expand the role and function of physiotherapist in various level of healthcare management and disease prevention as PT can serve as one of the key movers of health behaviour reinforcement. The application of innovative technology is also discussed, with the aim of bringing PT service to everyone in a more individualized and holistic way, to facilitate the awareness and building habit of self healthcare management. These concepts share the same spirit with the Healthy Macao Blueprint put forward by the Health Bureau of Macau SAR government.
